European Athletic Association
It operates within the framework of the world governing body, World Athletics.
European Athletics’ role is to develop, promote and foster the sport of athletics, in both its competitive and non-competitive forms, on behalf of and in cooperation with its 51 Member Federations. This includes delivering a four-year programme of more than 40 championship events and a development programme to enhance the operations of the federations. In line with its motto “Your Sport for Life”, European Athletics also supports its federations’ outreach out to various target groups with services linked to fitness, healthy lifestyle, environmental sustainability and personal development.
In 2017 European Athletics launched the I RUN CLEAN online anti-doping e-learning platform (http://www.irunclean.org) in 25 languages and made completion of the eight-module programme mandatory for all athletes entering its European championships events.
In the I RUN CLEAN project European Athletics will lead the E-Learning Module work package and the National Delivery Activities work package, which includes supervising the delivery of up to 90 workshops in the six countries participating in the project.
