Federazione Italiana di Atletica Leggera (FIDAL)
Founded in 1906, the FIDAL is affiliated to World Athletics, European Athletics and the Italian Olympic Committee (CONI), which is also the confederation of the Italian sport federations. In 2019 the FIDAL had 2,829 affiliated clubs and 247,860 licensed athletes.
The mission of FIDAL is to develop and promote athletics throughout Italy - from school athletics to elite performances. Among its tasks are responsibility for selecting the national teams to participate in international competitions at any level (with the exception of the Olympic Games when the selection is operated together with CONI), and organising the national championships, both individual and per club, for all age-categories. At FIDAL we believe that athletics is a way to enhance people’s lives and therefore we conduct programmes and projects in areas such as healthy lifestyle, fair play, environmental protection, social inclusion and the education of young people.
In the I RUN CLEAN project, the FIDAL will be responsible for national-level activities in Italy including recruitment of ambassadors, staging workshops and communications.
