Ambassador newsletter n°1

April 7, 2022

Welcome

Dear I RUN CLEAN Ambassador,

The World Athletics Indoor Championships in Belgrade are now complete, Spring is finally in the air, and we are making big leaps from the preparation phase to the all-important implementation of our I Run Clean project!

To keep everyone up to date with the project activities and developments, the management team will be supplementing our social media communications with this new area of the project website and slightly more formal newsletters like this from time to time over the next months.

We hope you find the information interesting and any feedback you want to give will of course be appreciated.

Now for this edition's topics:

Worshop design

As you are probably aware by now, the draft PowerPoint presentation and guidance notes for the Athlete Workshop are ready and have been circulated for translation.  In an early February videoconference briefing for 21 attendee, including representatives from all six ambassador teams, explanations were given about how we hope the test workshops will be delivered. From what we could see, everyone was satisfied with the information and ready to get started bringing their colleagues up to speed.

We are happy to announce that the PowerPoint and guidance notes for the Parent Workshop are now ready and will be circulated for translation in the coming days. The slides are mostly the same as those for the Athlete Workshop, so the translation should be straightforward in most cases.

Translators remember, you only need to translate the slides themselves. The instructions in the notes will only be seen by the ambassadors and will surely be adjusted after we have delivered and evaluated the test workshops.

We are currently working on the Coaches Workshop and will keep you informed as we make progress. Thanks to Andrea Chirico and his Workshop Design Team for the important work they have done in this area.

Online registration

To properly deliver the official test workshops, it is necessary that all participants are registered and that we have their contact details.  We have developed on online registration form and in the coming days the national coordinators will be asked to check to make sure our translations are correct (we used Google Translate, so they might not be perfect).  Once that process is complete everything will be in place to start advertising and delivering the test workshops.

Workshop report form

To fulfil our obligations to the Erasmus+ programme, it will be necessary to have certain information for the official test workshops conducted.

A short Workshop Report Form has been created and this is to be completed by one of the ambassadors delivering  each workshop.  The form can be accessed in the project team area of www.iruncleanproject.eu.

Please take a moment to familiarise yourself with the form and then be sure it is completed after each test workshop.

E-Learning update

We are proud to announce that 2021 saw an excellent 63% increase in registered users over the year on www.irunclean.org. The number has kept climbing through the first quarter of 2022 and as of 31 March the total reached 33,298 , of which 27,082 had completed the course and received their I Run Clean diploma.

The other big news is that the transfer of the programme to its new hosting platform is now complete. Thanks to the technicians at TASK in Norway for all their efforts on this massive project. Don’t hesitate to direct your friends, family members and even people you meet on the street to the platform and encourage them to complete the course.

Promotion News

March was a big month for Jean Gracia’s efforts to attract support for I RUN CLEAN from key organisations. First, he met with representatives of World Athletics and the Athletics Integrity Unit, including the AIU’s Aditya Kumar, who you remember was with us in Berlin.

As a result of the meeting, the World Athletics Council has given its official recognition to I RUN CLEAN (see extract from minutes below) and will be helping to promote the programme to federations around the world. World Athletics’ recognition is doubly significant because it opens the door to speak directly with the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) about support they might be able to give to our project.

Indeed, Jean was able to meet briefly with the WADA President, Witold Banka, during the World Athletics Indoor Championships in Belgrade to start this important conversation.

Conclusion

That's it for this addition. We welcome your comments and if there is something you would like to share with your fellow ambassadors, please don't hesitate to use the comments below.

Be sure to use your own social media to promote our project with #irunclean and don’t forget that additional project information will always be available on the project website (www.iruncleanproject.eu).
